Jesus

Why did he die …….

In the big picture, our time on this earth is like a vapor compared to our life that follows.  We are here for a short time and our path here will end soon.  We get to choose a path that leads to forever torment, or a path that leads to forever perfect peace.  This man died so you could have forever perfect peace.  Don’t stay on the “do nothing” path that doesn’t end well.

Here’s the Good News …….

You may think you are a good person but the truth is we are all sinners.  Have you ever told a lie?  God already knows the answer.  The good news is the path to forever perfect peace takes those sins away because of what Jesus did for us.  Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose to life on the 3rd day.  Don’t you owe it to yourself to stop and think about a better path that leads your next life into forever peace?  The choice is the most important choice you will ever make and it’s free!

We all sin …….  Ten Commandments Exodus 20   For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  Romans 3:23

Sin is in our DNA …….   Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.  Rom 7:20

Why he died ……. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.   1 Thess 5:9

Why he died ……. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”   1 Peter 2:24

If you die tomorrow …….   you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life?  You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.   James 4:14

You have no excuse …….   For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.  Rom 1:20

Price of rejection …….  Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. John 3:36

This is your chance …….   For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.  Matt 7:8

Life forever …….  Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.   John 5:24

Life forever …….  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  John 3:16-17

Confess & Believe …….   If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.   Rom 10:9-10

Do you believe? …….

Stop for a moment.  Do you believe what you have just read?  If you believe this in your heart, then confess with your mouth your belief and faith in Jesus with this prayer:

“Dear God, I admit I am a sinner.  I believe in my heart that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and he rose from the dead and is alive today.  I confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord and Savior.  I put my faith and trust in you, Jesus!  Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and thank you for saving me.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.“

Am I saved? …….

If you believe what you confessed to God above, You are Saved!  It’s not a feeling, it’s a fact!  It’s a free gift from God who loves us so much he sacrificed his only son.  Your salvation depends only on your belief in Jesus dying on the cross for your sins and you putting your faith and trust in him.  The bible says you were saved at the moment you confessed and believed.  The prayer just helps you grasp the reality that salvation has already happened in your heart.  Rom 10:9-10    Eph 2:8-9

Your Helper …….

It’s not like a snap of the finger and being saved makes you a 100% changed person.  The Holy Spirit will lead you in the change over time.  As you continue to put your faith and trust in Jesus, talk to him, and read the bible, you will experience the Holy Spirit working in your life.  The Holy Spirit will help you identify and turn from your sins because you can’t do it without him.     1 John 4:2     Gal 5:16

What Now? …….

It’s worth repeating that if you believe in your heart what you confessed to God, You are Saved!  Again it’s not a feeling, it’s a fact.  The Holy Spirit will begin to work in you. 1 Cor 2:12   Eph 1:13-14   But the fact is “You are now a child of God.”  Let the Holy Spirit help you in building your faith.  Those who believe by faith in Jesus, will pursue obeying God’s commandments.  1 John 2:3   Good works and obedience are not requirements for salvation but changes through the Holy Spirit will create these desires.  Desires to turn away from your sin and toward a life of righteousness. 1 John 3:4-10   And when you fall short in obedience, you have God’s promise to forgive you. 1 John 1:9  Your next steps: Read the bible, talk to Jesus in prayer, find a sound church of believers, and Read the “Four Gospels Plus” listed below.  Also Baptism is an act of obedience after salvation.  It is a testimony of the change in a believer’s life from old to new.  Pursue baptism as soon as possible.   Col 2:12   Rom 6:4
